Triathlon bid to benefit Citizens Advice

It’s not many managers who would be willing to swim 750m, cycle for 20KM and run 5K to raise funds for their work place, but Janie Moor manager at Citizens Advice South Hams is doing just that on June 11th.

After training for more than five months she feels she is now ready to take on the challenge this Sunday.  It begins at Blackpool Sands where all 200 entrants will swim out from the west end of the beach, circle back and then sprint to their bikes.  They then cycle the coast road along Slapton beach before turning at Stokenham for the return journey.  The final leg is a run towards Stoke Fleming before crossing onto the South West Coast Path and then returning to Blackpool Sands for a well deserved rest.

Janie is undertaking the challenge to raise money and awareness for Citizens Advice, she says “Last year we helped more than 4,000 local people and in Devon as a whole 30,000.  Not many people realise that we are a charity that depends on funding and trained volunteers.  I’ve always enjoyed sports and thought it would be a good opportunity to get involved with the triathlon and raise money and awareness at the same time, I hope to reach  £1000 in sponsorships ”

If you would like to sponsor Janie she has a Just Giving page at everyclick.com/southhamstriathlon and if you are interested in becoming a volunteer contact joanna@southhamscab.org.uk.  Citizens Advice South Hams is based at Follaton House, Totnes and is open to see clients from Mon-Thurs, as well as operating an advice line on 03444 111 444 from Mon – Fri.
