Totnes Dragon Boat Race

We are looking for crew mates for a Citizens Advice boat at this year’s Dragon Boat Challenge. The event is being held on Sunday, 14th July on the River Dart, Longmarsh, Totnes.

This is a great opportunity to have a fun day down by the river with the family whilst raising funds for Citizens Advice South Hams. We plan to have a kiosk with tombola on the day as well.

Teams of ten paddlers plus a drummer will race each other in heats in colourful dragon boats with the fastest teams reaching a grand final. Each team takes part in a minimum of 3 races.

The teams are asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £40 per paddler, excluding the drummer. The first £40 raised, ( £400 per team),  goes to the Totnes Rotary Club of which we are an accredited beneficiary, but all monies collected above that will be retained for Citizens Advice South Hams.

If you, a partner or friend would like to take part and join the Citizens Advice boat then please contact Rob Austin via email or add your name to the sign up sheet in the office. No previous experience is required and all necessary equipment including lifejackets are provided. If you do happen to have an Olympic rower in the family, then all the better!

We are also looking for items for the tombola, toys and unwanted gifts, as long as items are as new and in good order, please put them to one side for us.  If you have something to donate we’ll start collecting items in from the beginning of July, because it’s going to be a baking hot, family day nothing perishable or alcoholic please.
